Service and working animals will soon benefit from a free eye examination, thanks to an upcoming annual event.

Sponsored by Epicur Pharma, the ACVO/Epicur Service Animal Volunteer Eye Screening (ACVO-SAVES), previously known as the ACVO/Epicur National Service Animal Eye Exam Event, will take place in May, offering free vision screenings for eligible animals worldwide. These exams are conducted by volunteer board-certified ophthalmologists from the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO).

Now in its 15th year, the event has reportedly provided approximately 86,000 complimentary eye exams across the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, the UK, and Hong Kong. In 2024, 265 ACVO diplomates reportedly volunteered to examine more than 5,500 animals, reinforcing the event's impact and the veterinary community's dedication to animal welfare.

Registration for the 2025 ACVO/Epicur Service Animal Volunteer Eye Screening event runs from April 1 to 30. To check if an animal is eligible, visit the ACVO website.
