As for Champ, following his presumptive diagnosis, he responded favorably to prednisone and anticonvulsant therapy for 10 weeks. Then, his mentation declined and his seizures started to occur every two to three days. His owners elected to have him euthanized when he was no longer interacting with them.
Susan A. Arnold, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology) is an assistant professor of neurology and neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine.
