Dr. Tony Goldberg is heading up the search for University of Wisconsin's next vet school dean.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison appointed members to a search-and-screen committee to assist in the university's search for the next dean of its school of veterinary medicine.

Daryl Buss, DVM, Ph.D., dean of the school since 1994 and the second dean in the school's history, will step down in June.

Tony Goldberg, DVM, Ph.D., professor in the department of pathobiological sciences, is chairing the search committee. Other appointees include:

  • Lisbeth Ambrosius, doctor of veterinary medicine student;
  • Ellison Bentley, DVM, clinical associate professor, department of surgical sciences;
  • Mark Cook, Ph.D., professor, department of animal sciences;
  • Charles Czuprynski, Ph.D., professor, department of pathobiological sciences;
  • Doerte Doepfer, DVM, Ph.D., assistant professor, department of medical sciences;
  • Christian Eisele, senior instructional specialist, department of medical sciences;
  • Patrick Farrell, DVM, veterinary medicine board of visitors.
  • Lisa Forrest, VMD, professor, department of surgical sciences;
  • Robert Golden, MD, dean, school of medicine and public health;
  • William Karasov, Ph.D., department of forest and wildlife ecology;
  • Lynn Maki, student services program manager II, school of veterinary medicine;
  • Jonathan McAnulty, DVM, Ph.D., professor, department of surgical sciences;
  • Marie Pinkerton, DVM, clinical assistant professor, department of pathobiological sciences;
  • Linda Schuler, VMD, Ph.D., professor, department of comparative biosciences;
  • Lauren Trepanier, DVM, Ph.D., professor, department of medical sciences;
  • Cara Williams, department of veterinary medicine student.

Secretary of the faculty David Muslof and search-and-screen coordinator Eileen Hanneman are serving as staff to the committee.

The dean serves as chief academic and executive officer of the school and also oversees the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. The university has an annual budget of $54.5 million, including research expenditures of $20.2 million, and about 325 full time equivalent faculty and staff and 300 FTE employees in training, graduate assistants and student hourly workers.
