Take the Local Block Challenge

Can you solve this brain teaser?

Answer:

  • It is important to draw up the lidocaine first.
  • If you drew bupivacaine first, you might inadvertently cause some bupivacaine to end up inside the lidocaine vial.
  • Lidocaine is not only used for local blocks. It is also used to treat VPCs.
  • Injecting bupivacaine IV is not ideal because it is a cardiotoxic drug.
