Walkin' Pets accepting veterinary scholarship applicationsFebruary 6, 2019Walkin' Pets' scholarship program is now open for submissions from students in veterinary programs. A $1,000 scholarship is being offered for doctoral veterinary students, and a $500 rehab/veterinary technician scholarship is being offered for canine rehabilitation and/or veterinary tech students. Students interested in applying must be full-time doctoral students entering, or enrolled in, the 2019 academic year at an accredited veterinary school. Those who are interested in the rehab/veterinary technician scholarship must be enrolled in a full-time canine rehabilitation or veterinary tech program for the 2019 academic year. The application period for both scholarships is open from now to July 31. Scholarship recipients will be notified by Sept. 1. Thirteen dogs win Walkin' Pets calendar contest supporting disabled petsSeptember 13, 2018The 2019 Walkin' Pets worldwide calendar contest has announced 13 winners from around the world. This year, the winning dogs hail from eight countries: Thailand, Brazil, Germany, England, United States, Mexico, Italy, and Wales. The champions were selected by popular vote on the Walkin' Pets Facebook page and were announced through a video by the company. The winning dogs range in age from 1 to 11 and are of all sizes and breeds, including a dachshund, a German shepherd, a Siberian husky, French bulldog, and more. Each year, the contest features pets using Walkin' Wheels wheelchairs to help raise awareness of options for disabled pets with mobility challenges. Walkin' Pets offers certification for veterinarians, pet care professionalsMay 2, 2018Walkin' Pets, maker of the Walkin' Wheels dog wheelchair, is offering a free online Walkin' Wheels Certification Program to veterinary and pet care professionals. The six-part webinar series educates participants about all aspects of the fully adjustable mobility device, from in-office use to helping pet owners assess dog wheelchair options when pets become injured or disabled. The program instructs participants about the various rehabilitative and assistive uses of the wheelchair, assembly and fitting tips, therapeutic in-hospital and rehabilitation use, and renting and referral programs for pet care professionals. Participants who complete the certification program receive a Walkin' Wheels Certified certificate and are designated as "Walkin' Wheels Certified" on the company's veterinarian and pet care professional interactive map, which customers use to find local professionals knowledgeable about the wheelchair. A $1,000 veterinarian scholarship is being offered for doctoral veterinary students, and a $500 rehab/vet tech scholarship is being offered for canine rehabilitation or veterinary tech students. The application period for these two scholarships is open now through July 31. Scholarship recipients will be notified by Oct. 1. Applicants are asked to respond to an essay topic and submit a short online application that can be found here. Full-time doctoral students entering their senior year in 2018 at an accredited veterinary school are eligible to apply for the veterinarian scholarship. The rehab/vet tech scholarship is open to full-time canine rehabilitation or veterinary tech students entering their graduation year in 2018 at an accredited canine rehabilitation or veterinary tech program.
