UW-Stout to host conference on animal health nutraceuticalsJune 10, 2019The University of Wisconsin (UW)-Stout is hosting a world conference on the use of nutraceuticals in companion animal health care. Sponsored by Vets Plus, the International Conference on Animal Health Nutraceuticals–2019 (ICAHN 2019) takes place from July 17 to 19. "Veterinarians already use probiotics to address digestive ailments and omega-3 fatty acids to improve issues with the skin, coat, and joints," says Vets Plus founder and chief executive office, Raj Lall. "And nutraceuticals are widely used in joint health programs and to address the needs of senior pets. MightyVet to offer moral stress session at WVCFebruary 5, 2019MightyVet is offering a two-hour session at the Western Veterinary Conference (WVC) on how veterinarians can best deal with moral stress. Given the profession can be physically and emotionally demanding, the company is offering advice and tools to help alleviate stressful situations and their consequences, including burnout, compassion fatigue, ethics exhaustion, and suicide. "Moral stress is not an inevitability in veterinary medicine," says Barry Kipperman, DVM, DACVIM, MSc, one of the panelists. The discussion also will focus on how MightyVet is helping to bridge the gap in veterinary education by ensuring veterinarians are informed of, and prepared for, the challenges they will face in practice. AHVMA conference 2018 in 'Search of Healing Stuff'April 20, 2018The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA) will host its annual conference in Kissimmee, Fla., Oct. 4-7. The event will feature an address from AHVMA past-president Richard Palmquist, DVM, who will deliver his keynote speech, "Search of Healing Stuff," describing how microscopic to macroscopic relationships can build a better healing community. In addition to the keynote address, the conference will feature more than 100 hours of lectures on a range of topics. Speakers include animal rehabilitation specialist Janice Huntingford, DVM, DACVSMR, CCRT, CVA, CVTP, CVCH, CVFT, equine acupuncturist Deborah Marshall, DVM, CVA, CVC, and certified animal chiropractor Daniel M. Halden. The event will also include a banquet, featuring a silent auction with proceeds going toward AHVMA's student scholarship fund, as well as the association's Annual Herbwalk, sponsored by the Veterinary Botanical Medicine Association.
