Northern Virginia pet hospital joins Compassion-FirstJune 3, 2019Veterinary Referral Center of Northern Virginia (VRC-NOVA) in Manassas has announced it will join the Compassion-First Pet Hospitals family. The hospital employs 77 veterinary professionals and offers surgical services, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and 24/7 emergency care. Just recently, it remodeled and expanded its ophthalmology department and emergency services. "We have entered an age where consumers' demand for medical advancements is growing daily. John Payne, who also serves as the chair of Compassion-First and of American Humane, will receive a lifetime membership, as well as guest-host the ICON series live event in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 5. Compassion-First launches program for noncredentialed vet techs, assistantsAugust 15, 2018Compassion-First Pet Hospitals has launched an educational development program for its noncredentialed veterinary technicians and assistants—the Compassion-First Technician and Assistant Development Program. The program involves a partnership with two American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited veterinary technician programs, Penn Foster College and Cedar Valley College, to provide educational options and tuition assistance for career growth. The new partnership provides noncredentialed veterinary technicians the opportunity to earn their AS degree in veterinary technology and become eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam to become credentialed in their state. The program also includes a veterinary assistant certificate program approved by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, in which employees become eligible to take the national exam and earn credentials as an approved veterinary assistant. Compassion-First Pet Hospitals acquires Texas, South Carolina specialty clinicsApril 5, 2018Compassion-First Pet Hospitals announced the addition of Texas-based Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center (DVSC) and Charleston Veterinary Referral Center (CVRC) of Charleston, S.C. to its growing family of hospitals. DVSC, founded by Dr. Robert Barstad in 1986, is a premier surgical center for veterinary surgical care, providing neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and soft tissue surgery throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area for over 30 years. DVSC has locations in Dallas, East Dallas, Plano, Grapevine, and Fort Worth. Founded in 2011 by Drs.
