Eight animal care professionals have been selected for Petco’s new advisory board. The Petco Pet Wellness Council (PPWC) will serve as an external source of advice for both the specialty retailer and the veterinary industry as a whole. Petco says council members will address a range of industry-related topics and help guide the development of pet care science and advance educational development in the field. “Petco has been committed to helping pets live healthier, happier lives for more than 50 years,” says CEO Ron Coughlin. “Today, we’re focused on driving real, tangible change and progress in how we fulfill that commitment by serving and caring for the complete health and wellness of pets—but we can’t do it alone. With the PPWC, we’re bringing together some of the industry’s top experts and thought leaders to provide new, science-based perspectives to inform our understanding and approach to challenges and opportunities across our business and the pet care world.” The council’s members are: Sean Delaney, DVM, MS, DACVN; Thomas Edling, DVM, MSpVM, MPH; Alexandra Horowitz, MS, PhD; Nicole Leibman, DVM, MS, DACVIM; Whitney Miller, DVM, MBA, DACVPM; Tammy Sadek, DVM, DAVBP; Jonathan Stockman, DVM, DACVN; and Lori Teller, DVM, DABVP, CVJ. “The [council] is a critical element to ensuring both Petco and the rest of the industry continue to serve the best interest of pets and anyone who cares for them—from professionals to pet parents—today and into the future,” Coughlin adds.
