A recent survey by Figo Pet Insurance looked closely at how pet ownership is evolving through the generations. The survey, with research conducted by Morning Consult, reached more than 2,000 pet parents through online interviews. Results included different ways owners handle food for their pets, and what happens when it eats something it shouldn’t. A majority of pet owners admit that they’ve walked in on their dog or cat stealing a bite (or two) of human food; 30 percent of those have taken their pets to the vet after the counter surfing involved a forbidden snack. That number increases to 41 percent for Gen Z owners. When asked how often they consider sustainability when making food and treat purchases for your pets, nearly 60 percent of Gen Z owners considered eco-friendly options for their pets at least “most of the time.” The From Boomers to Zoomers study can be accessed here.
