As the head of development efforts, Dr. Lucas will oversee the technical evaluation of product opportunities, formulation development with outside partners, Putney’s clinical program, and work closely with Regulatory Affairs to ensure the quality of scientific submissions needed for approval from the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine. His previous experience includes a position as the Group Leader Companion Animal Acquisitions for Elanco, a division of Eli Lilly, where he developed the strategy to deliver growth through targeted product acquisitions. Dr. Lucas has also held positions as senior research scientist, practicing veterinarian, and is an officer of the American Association of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics. The addition of Dr. Lucas marks a milestone in Putney’s plans for growth, said Jean Hoffman, president and CEO. “With Dr. Lucas leading development efforts, Putney has increased our scientific capabilities to overcome the challenges of developing drugs for dogs and cats and bring more products to companion animal veterinarians,” Hoffman said.
