The Ohio State University is requesting Ohio and Michigan veterinarians to complete a short survey pertaining to Harmful Algal Blooms (HAB), commonly known as blue-green algae toxicosis in animals. The purpose of the survey is to help the researchers better understand veterinary practices related to HAB toxicosis in animals and develop a future study plan, according to Jiyoung Lee, PhD, the principal investigator and associate professor of environmental microbiology at the university. Data will also be used to help inform public health decision makers develop a public health interventions plan. The university is working in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ohio Department of Health, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Michigan and Ohio Veterinary Medical Associations. The self-administered, anonymous survey is expected to take about 5 minutes. Take the survey here. The survey must be completed before October 31, 2016.
