Merck, AVMF partner together to offer vet student scholarships

The Veterinary Student Scholarship Program, Merck Animal Health and the American Veterinary Medical Foundation are offering twenty $5,000 scholarships

Merck Animal Health, along with the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), is offering twenty $5,000 scholarships to second- and third-year veterinary students through the Veterinary Student Scholarship Program. Veterinary students in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean have until December 31, 2016, to apply.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, half the scholarships will be awarded to students studying small animal or equine medicine; the other half will go to students studying food animal or aquatic animal medicine.

This is part of Merck Animal Health and the AVMF's commitment to preserving and improving the health of animals. According to the AVMF website, "Merck's partnership with the AVMF aligns with the AVMF's strategic initiative of supporting the enhancement of students of veterinary medicine. To ensure the excellence of veterinary medicine in the future, the AVMF and Merck believe in, and support, the quality of education and training of future veterinarians."

Scholarship winners will be notified in March 2017.
